Ricardo, Embedded software Engineer at MCA Nederland
On the blog today we discover Ricardo's background, Embedded Software Engineer in the High-Tech industry, in Eindhoven.
Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
My name is Ricardo, I'm 34 years old and come from Mexico, originally from Mexico City. In 2016 I moved to Querétaro (an amazing city) and lived there until 2019 when I started in MCA Nederland in Eindhoven.
I have a bachelor's in electronic engineering and a master's in computing technology.
Besides playing with microcontrollers and electronic components I enjoy dancing and swimming.
What brought you into the engineering world? Was it something you always considered to be your professional path?
Since I was a kid, I enjoyed solving math problems, it was like solving puzzles to me. Also, some other sciences like physics and chemistry became very interesting over the years. There were some other influences like my brother and some teachers that contributed to my interest to become an engineer.
In your opinion, what are the main qualities necessary to succeed as an engineer?
Like in any other profession, passion for what you do is very important, definitely structured and logical thinking and maybe a little of stubbornness :)
How did you got in touch with MCA Nederland? How did the recruitment process went?
I got in touch with MCA because of a friend who was a consultant. The recruitment process was very quick, after a week of the first contact with MCA my former BM sent me the contract :D
What is your current project, in which industry?
My current project involves the migration of an embedded platform from VxWorks to Linux. This project is for the dutch Leader of the High-tech industry.
What do you like the most about your project, and what do you find challenging?
What I like the most is working directly with different OSs like VxWorks and Linux, writing drivers, and fixing bugs. Due to the size of the final product, I find very challenging to understand the different SW components and the relationship among them.
How do you see yourself evolving within the industry, and MCA?
I see myself working with the cutting edge technology in a very dynamic environment and supported by MCA to get the right project and challenge for my career.
What do you appreciate the most about working at MCA?
I really appreciate the multi-cultural environment in MCA office, especially on the Friday drinks :) which is a great time to share personal and professional experiences with people from different parts of the world
A final word?
The year and a half that I’ve been working for MCA has been a great experience so far, I have improved on the technical side but also, I have met a lot of interesting people and learned about different ways to see the and perceive world.
